In McDonald’s

A man rubs his girlfriend’s shaved head
the way a woman rubs
a pregnant belly.

Supporting the weight of her face
in his hands
he seems to pray for her,
his forehead pressed against
the bone of her cheek.

Taking his fingers, she
places them to her lips and kisses them,
never minding the grains of salt
on his fingertips,
or the smell of meat traced
along the palm of each hand.
